Hello Teacher Friends,
It's that time of year.......Summer Vacation! The weeks that teachers look forward to each year, especially after a hectic school year! I have put together a list of 5 Summer Must-Dos, so that you can throughly deserve your well-deserved vacation and feel reguvinated for the fall.
5. Organize your special thank you cards and notes from students that you received at the end of the school year. It will make you feel extra special to see how much you are truly appreciated. Take a card that especially touched your heart and have it framed for your desk, as a reminder of why you have dedicated your life to teaching!
4. Catch up on your summer reading. Read books for pleasure, but also catch up on some Professional Books.
Number Talks: Helping Children Build Mental Math Computation: Grades K-5: Written by Sherry Parrish.
This book is a wonderful book for teachers that want to further explore math discussions and an inquiry based mathematics approach.
And The Mountains Echoed: Written by Khaled Hosseini. This is the same author that wrote Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns.
3. Develop a plan for organizing your classroom library. I purchased about 20 green bins for $2.00 at Orchard Hardware supply! You can't beat that price! Have you considered using Booksource's: Classroom Organizer for your books? The Classroom Organizer Tool helps teachers maintain an organized book inventory of classroom library books.. Check out the link here:
2. Find time to spend with family and friends. Have a glass of wine? Try out a new favorite restaurant that you have been dying to try! Treat yourself to a gigantic bowl of frozen yogurt! Indulge a little!
1. Find time to exercise. Develop a routine and stick to it! Take walks, take a yoga or a spin class, try out kickboxing. Eat extra healthy because you don't have birthday treats or all of the other junk food that is always staring you in the face during the school year! Venture to the Farmer's Market during the afternoon and stock on up some fresh produce! Enjoy Life!
