The moment we have all been waiting for has finally arrived! It is time to start setting up your classroom. Thanks to Pintrest and Schoolgirl Style the decor of my classroom has changed! Since I am in love with Chevron, I decided to go with a lime green and brown color scheme. Below I've described my new classroom set-up in photos. Enjoy! xo
Classroom Library
I purchased the green bins from Orchards Hardware Store for $2 each. The labels were printed from TPT. My library area also included high-interest reading for the beginning of the year!
Reading Corner
The lime green chairs were a steal at JoAnn Fabric! I hope that students find this space welcoming and a place to curl up with good book.
Layered Bulletin Boards
This was my first year using layered bulletin boards. I love how they came out and I have received many compliments on their appearance. I used fadless paper, but next year I think I will return to fabric to cover my boards. The banner and the poms were both purchased from http://www.schoolgirlstyle.com.
Job Chart
The labels for the job chart were printed from: I also found this idea on Pintrest and I love the way it came out. I always make sure that each student has a job, especially since I sometimes forget to change jobs on Friday night.
Table Groups
To build community I always create table groups. At the start of the school year, I place baskets in the center of each table with a variety of genres to encourage children to read. I purchased the baskets from JoAnn Fabrics and the table numbers were a freebie from TPT.
Writing Chart
I created a pencil "Writing Chart" last year as a visual for students to keep track of their stage of the writing process. This chart proved to be helpful and students were able to monitor their progress. My Writing Center also includes an area to display published writing and other projects.
Book Recommendations
Every class needs a Book Recommendation wall! My goal is for students to reference this wall throughout the year when looking for a good book to read!
Work Area
I created this work area for student to turn work in quickly and efficiently. The area also includes space for rubrics, math challenge problems, paper selection and free choice activities. Labels were also a freebie from TPT.
Finished Product!
Overall, I am excited about the school year and my new classroom! Hope you enjoyed my classroom tour!
